Duties include but are not limited to the ability to earn and maintain certifications as required by law and department policy, have the ability to read at close range and at distances, have normal color vision, hearing within the normal range, the ability to multi-task, be able to operate computer systems and other office equipment.

The starting wage is $20.05 per hour with step increases to $22.32

Employment Opportunity – Emmet County Sheriff

Entry level with no previous experience starts at $29.51 per hour or $61,377.17 annually. 

 

On July 1^st 2023 this position will increase to $70,583.75 or $33.94 per hour with additional increases based upon longevity and performance.

In addition, overtime is available with this position at 1 ½ times the standard rate of pay, paid vacation, paid holidays, (approximately 4 weeks paid time off in the first year), sick benefit, paid employee health insurance, IPERS retirement system and an individually assigned take home patrol vehicle.

A successful applicant will need to be able to achieve and maintain necessary certifications as required by the State of Iowa and the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, report to work on short notice and be available to work different shift schedules as needed including nights, days, weekends and holidays, possess a high school diploma or GED as well as a safe driving record.

Lateral transfer of current Iowa certified officers will be accepted. All other applicants will be required to undergo a Civil Service Examination/POST (Police Officer Selection Test) and physical agility test. Top qualifiers must undergo a background investigation, psychological examination as well as other pre-employment testing.

Emmet County Public Health Office Manager

The Emmet County Public Health is currently accepting applications for a full-time (32 hours) Office Manager position.  This position includes full-time benefits including paid vacation, sick leave, health and life insurance and IPERS retirement program.

The Office Manager is responsible for maintaining office operation and procedures, preparing payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable, budget planning, grant budgets, billing and reporting, assists with answering telephone and other duties as assigned. 

High school graduation required, post-secondary education in accounting or business preferred.  Minimum job requirements:  must be proficient with Excel, Word and QuickBooks, medical office and insurance billing helpful.  Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions and be able to multi-task.

Secondary Roads Equipment Operator/Laborer – Dolliver Shed

Emmet County Secondary Roads is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Equipment Operator/Laborer and will report to the Dolliver Maintenance Shed.  This position participates in construction and maintenance of County roads using heavy equipment and construction materials on County ROW, bridges, and culverts under the general supervision of the County Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor.  Tasks can also include manual labor, preventive maintenance of equipment, excavation, tile repair, and snow removal.

A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required At least one year experience in construction, road maintenance, and/or medium to heavy industrial or farm equipment operation/maintenance functions is required. Good work skills that promote a team effort are essential. Strong communication skills, good recordkeeping skills and the ability to work safely are necessary. An Iowa Commercial Driver’s License class “A” with brake endorsement is required, and the employee must be insurable.

Salary is $24.31 with a increase on July 1, 2023.
