Secondary Roads Equipment Operator/Laborer – Estherville
Emmet County, Iowa is seeking
qualified candidates for the position of Equipment Operator/Laborer. This
position participates in construction and maintenance of County roads, using
heavy equipment and construction materials on County ROW, bridges, and culverts
under the general supervision of the County Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor. Tasks can also include manual labor,
preventive maintenance of equipment, excavation, tile repair and snow removal.
A high school diploma or
G.E.D. is required. At least one year of
experience in construction, road maintenance and/or medium to heavy industrial
or farm equipment operation/maintenance functions is required.
Good work skills that promote
a team effort are essential. Strong
communication skills, good recordkeeping skills and the ability to work safely
are necessary. An Iowa Commercial Driver’s
License class “A” with air brake endorsement is required and must be insurable.
Salary is determined by Union contract ($27.54 per hour). Single health insurance plan premium is
covered 100% by the County for full-time employees. Other available benefits include dental,
vision, LTD, flex.

Employment Opportunity – Emmet County Sheriff
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office is now taking applications for a motivated candidate to
join our team of professional law enforcement officers as a patrol deputy
sheriff.
This position starts at $72,708.17 or $34.96 per hour with an additional
rate based upon previous experience and qualifications.
The current salary rate after five years of experience as of July 1st 2024
is $76,638.34 or $36.85 per hour. Starting deputies will have annual step increases for five years in
addition to any other salary increase.
In addition, overtime is available with this position at 1 ½ times the standard rate of pay, paid vacation, holiday comp time, overtime pay for working on holidays, (approximately 4 weeks paid time off in the first year), sick benefit, paid employee health insurance, IPERS retirement system and an individually assigned take home patrol vehicle.
A successful applicant will need to be able to achieve and maintain necessary certifications and skill sets as required by the State of Iowa and the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, report to work on short notice and be available to work different shift schedules as needed including night shift, day shift, weekends and holidays, possess a high school diploma or GED as well as a safe driving record.
Lateral transfer of current Iowa certified officers will be accepted. All other applicants will be required to undergo a Civil Service Examination/POST (Police Officer Selection Test) and physical agility test. Top qualifiers must undergo a background investigation, psychological examination as well as other pre-employment testing.

June 22nd 2024 at 0800hrs
July 6th 2024 at 0800hrs
July 20th 2024 at 0800hrs
These positions will remain open until filled and the application process may be closed in advance of testing dates if the positions are filled.
